Hi, like some of you know i have my own bodyshop and i've just finished painting my wheels. It took me about 20 hours to do them but i'm very happy of the result.

Plus a had to modify my center cap because the BMW logo color didn't match the rest of the mags color. Here's some pics !

And the "new" center cap with carbon fiber sticker...

nice, but i'd do a much smaller 'time attack'...makes the wheel look more expensive and bigger

iiiinteresting...

I think you should have kept the carbon weave facing the same direction on both sections of the roundel, but that's just me...

thanks !

If i had done a smaller "time attack", it would have looked weird because the lip of the mag is that size.

20 hrs, Pshh! I can afford that. What's your going hourly rate, 1.00 and a bottle of beer for each hour?*shiner*

Tell you what, i'll even throw in four extra beers.:D

I kid, i kid.

looks great! Can you maybe put a quick procedure of what you did and what products you used? I'll be doing this on my brother rims soon and I'm looking for what brand of paint/clearcoat/sandpaper to use.

it's fairly easy, you have to sand your mag with 500 grid paper (320 for the rought spot then 500), sand with some red "scotch brite" the part that are not sanded (the little corner), tape the mag, put some primer on, re-sand and re-scotch brite, and then paint it !

I used regular car paint and regular clear coat. I've done it several time and it's very resistant.

The less expensive way to do it is to do all the preparation(sanding, priming (you can take some can primer), taping) and ship them to a bodyshop and tell them to do it when they will do a car with the color you want you mags. This way, they will just have to do a little more paint for your mag *th-up*

^cool thanks man. That's what I was thinking of doing. After you applied the clearcoat, did you wet sand/polish afterwards?

I think it looks awsome! When you get a chance post some pics of it on the car!

Great job!

good job, but personally i don t feel the colours/time attack treatment. DS1s are nicest in silver.

They were already painted "black" with can and they were not very nice. If they were not, i wouldn't had paint them but since i had to work on them, wy not do something different !

I'll have to wait and see them on the car, but I think the whole time attack thing doesn't work on all rims, and on these I think it'll make them look small.

Quality of the job looks great though!

They look sweet. Put them on the car we could then give your our honest opinion.

looks good man, great work, I'm hoping the red comes out much deeper than in the psed picture, cuz the trim looks awfully pink. I'm really liking them tho.

Not feeling it, the time attack red stripe should be slimmer. Props on quality, just not feeling the idea on that rim.

here is the unltimate question oh the rims - does the origional poster, the one who did all that work on them like them???

Props to some long hours and I think they look great. Hope my ROH's look even close to that after I refinish them.

Btw I think they don't look that great all silver, decided that when I saw them both side by side. The ones in silver pictured in this thread look odd.
