Looking to replace the airfilter on my 2003 525iT. Appreciate information on where the air filter (not the pair of cabin filter on top once the hood is opened) is located.

Thanks.

The airbox is that black plastic box to the right of the engine behind the headlight.

How often should I replace the air filter? Is it worth to spend $65 on the K&N filter?

Depends on your driving. Usually a year.

and... no. Don't. Change it to another intake, but not to a K&N panel, not for that price.

I think you can get K&N for about $40 from autopartsway.com

I picked up a pair for the M5.

From what I read, most people are leaning towards using the OEM filter and change it more often than using the K&N filter which may lead to more maintenance.

Wow! I'm surprised you'd use a K&N-panel-maf-gunker filter. I'm guessing you're saving for a true intake in summer.

Usually:

1. You need to clean your maf during the early runs
2. Not many people clean it after the year
3. Doesn't give enough sound or gain for the price

Granted... 40 bucks if Canadian, I'd do it... Once.

the AA intake uses K&N inserts. so. I don't know if it's going to cause problems. We'll see I suppose. I don't know which intake I'm going with yet.
