I am almost to a point of giving in and buying a new unit from the dealer, but the price is just astronomical, my driver side window on the unit is very testy, some times the down button works but most of the time it doesn't. I tried taking it apart and it is a whole enclosed sealed unit, I cant get to the buttons to see if I can clean or replace the one with one of the back windows one. Does any body have one that they are keeping in their closet? or advice on how to fix it, or we to get a much cheaper one!

For a part like that you may want to shop around... it may only be available from a dealer.
Research the part number first at http://bmwfans.info/original/ then try the different web sites.
I use this website:
They are part of a real BMW dealership, Tischer BMW out of Maryland. They are cheap but not the cheapest but then the parts are original BMW. The big advantages why I use them is that are reliable and they ship to Canada via USPS and you can request air or ground so you only pay a $5 flat rate brokerage charge and with no additional handling charges like some other parts houses.
