Hello experts,

Need desparately your help to decide if I should pursue this 2003 525iT. It comes with extended warranty (CPO) from BMW USA and it has 48K miles.

Upon a local BMW dealer inspection the following are found (not covered under warranty).

1. left side A pillar material is cut, est. $125.00+tax
2. antenna is missing, est. $35.00+tax
3. left rear door seal on body is ripped, est. $200.00+tax
4. ashtray in left rear door, est. $175.00+tax
5. lighter element, est. $25.00+tax
6. push strut bushings (part of front suspension), est. $550.00+tax
7. 4 wheel alignment (after suspension repairs) $189.95+tax
8. right rear wheel is bent, est. $365.00+tax
9. brake caliper mounting bolt dust covers are missing (8) est. $50.00+tax
10. all 4 lift pads (blocks in body of vehicle to safely lift vehicle) are missing, est. $135.00+tax

Ignore the pricing quote, but do some of the items suggest the car may have been in an accident? Carfax shows a 2 owner car with no records of accident but items like bent wheel, front suspension, ..., etc. are kind of making me nervous.

Thanks!

My thoughts:
(3) very common, I have already replaced mine. Easy DIY for $70 per side
(4,5) Do you need an ashtray in the rear door? If not, save $175
(6,7) If you mean "tension strut" very common DIY for $70 for bushing or $150 for entire arm, alignment not needed. (changed mine in June)
(9) This is interesting. How would they go missing? Bad repair, removed for better access to air bags? I don't know, but this is a red flag to me.
(10) Kind of common. There is a single plastic push-pin that holds them in, and they can fall off. If they are missing, the interior carpet can easily get wet and start to smell.

Thanks!Did BMW import the 525iT into Canada... I've never seen one here only in the US. Another question would be if the extended warranty (CPO) from BMW USA be supported by the Canadian Dealers.

The E39 wagon is a heavy car...personally I would say I would like it with the 2.8 litre engine but with the 2.5 I'm not so sure.
