Any audiophile should know this is one of the best head units Alpine has ever produced.

Comes with the head unit, remote, and trim ring. You'll either need a sleeve cage or a mounting kit to install it, depending on what car you're putting it in. $300 FIRM.

He never said it was THE best, simply "one of" the best ;)

Id rather have an Alpine 7909.
Its old skool, rarer, looks better, and has cleaner crisper sound. And it fetches alot more money than that deck.

Cool ... I used to have that in my old ass Monte Carlo, along with a Phoenix Gold 275, which at the time (and probably even now) is one of the best sounding amps. Man I miss that car sometimes *shiner*

Oh, I also had the 7998 in my M3 ... pretty good, but way too many options and buttons for me. It did sound great though! Good luck with the sale. The buyer will need some ams as well since this thing only has preamps, right?

Correct. This is only a pre-amp unit. You will need amps to run with this.

I dunno bout you guys, but I find the cda-7998 (and the cda-9835 that I had before) as a good compromise.. it's as close as you can to the hard-core audiophile units (like the 7909, clarion drz9255, F1 status) without the ancient looks and general lack of functionality. Oh and not to mention the price is a lot more reasonable.

Does it change colors? (amber/red)?

Yes, you can change the illumination to amber to match BMW lighting.
