I would focus on brakes, tires and suspention, with some weight reduction...That car can be like a go cart, even with the power you got! Unless you wanna do 250km/h and loose your license...BUT if you do, then engine swap is far more reliable, and cheaper then a turbo, and will in most cases give you more power...

engine swap, you can always turbo the swapped engine if you need more power

i am in the process now of doing those first few suggestions but i am also not a fan of losing my license

if i do go for the engine swap what would be my best bet???

Why not just sell it and buy a 325 or 328?
Go ask Thorold Imports what you should do, and ask about guys that had regular 3 series that started to do M3 parts conversions.....

I say neither, and find a deal on a nice E36 M3.... or 325is / 328is

Do you want more power? Why not keep that motor and get one of my chips for the M42? Have a look at what people with that motor and my chip think at m42club, you'll be surprised at the difference it makes and it may save you a few thousand.

although that looks pretty intense and is intense what was the total cost (if you dont mind me asking) because if i was to do a engine swap wouldn't i need to also upgrade the brakes, suspension and diff??

but it would be nice to do all that

Another option might be to find a used DASC (supercharger setup). A bit less involved than a swap, and pretty decent output. (GRmotorsports liked theirs)

Believe it or not there is more power in your engine.

The dual mass flywheel and clutch can be replaced with 325 parts (wayyyyyyyyyy lighter) Or buy a lightweight aluminum one.
You can also chip the car.

I think there are a few easy mods that you can also do and it's all cheap to do.

The 1991 318 can have a better power to weight ratio than a stock 325i.

I read a great article, and they call it the poor man's M3.

The engine easily made over 130 hp to the wheels, which is over 150 at the crank.

FWIW, you can spend as much as you want. If you do a few tweaks, you can enjoy the car.

But turbo has that cool factor... lol
