Hey guys....

I got a badly scratched rim (I tried using my key to scrape the dirt off and now they are key marks all over that one rim)...I want to refinish it so that the key marks are gone..

What can I do to get rid of these key marks? Or do I have to refinish the entire rim? And if so, where do you recommend to get it done, and how much can I expect to pay? It's an OEM rim

If its an OEM rim its probably paint/clear, if so, use clearcoat scratch remover like you would on paint. works best with a buffer.

lol...they werent exactly keys...it was this metal sharp edge that LOOKED like keys that I had lying around in the garage...i used it to try and scrape out the black residue which i was successful with...however I left a key-like scratch on it.

Thanks for the info..greatly appreciated

So sandpaper is safe to use on these stock rims to clean out black dirt residue?

of course not, you'll sand the clearcoat/paint right off.

for the love of god, whatever you are thinking of doing DO NOT DO IT!!!

if you want to clean your rims, get some chemical cleans from canadian tire or something like that. heck buy the bmw rim cleaner from any dealer. or go to a coin op car wash and use hte pressure washer.

just please dont scratch ur rims further

Don't try steal wool lmao; try anything that isnt metal/sandpaper/sharp/ridgy/bumpy/hard solid..

Personally I don't bother with cleaning chemicals/soaps anymore, the break dust pwns me every time.. I just use a cloth and water lol.
