No offense dude but I think you're borderlining on obsession with these cars. It's cool to have a hobby but... They are still worth about as much as a new Chevy Cobalt don't forget. Just pick up a clean 15-20K example to keep yourself happy until you find your "dream" sportevo and call it a day. Will save our fellow max members from being bumbarded with E30 M3 threads left right and centre. It's a cool car, but not that cool. *th-up*

Maybe I'm just bitter because I just spend 3K on my S14 to get it running... Going on S14.net they make you feel guilty unless you replace every last little thing on it lol.

very true. but the internet is the last domain for the fanatically obsessed to find some solidarity. if he's not allowed to exhibit his frothing addiction on a forum of bmw enthusiasts, where else can he? :)

at the end of the day, he's just a guy that loves too much!

you can only buy this car if your are 1.) donald trump 2.) Jay Leno or 3.) your average saudi Prince.
if your none of the above then its the worst 180,000 grand ANYONE can ever spend.

180 grand can buy you a MINT 360 Modena....

Cheverolet corvette ZR-1 Mercedes benz CL65 AMG V12-Bi turbo

any of those over a E30 M3 EVO ANY DAY!!!!

........... just like any other forum, there are fanatics. But for the most part, S14.net has been a blessing for me during my restoration (that still isn't on the road 100%......... fuk). I'd say at least 60% of the people there are hard core fanatics and Diy-er wrenchers working off minimal budgets. The S14 has never been known to be a cheap motor to restore......... you should have known that going in. Then again, what BMW is cheap to fix...... ever ?!?!?!? *mumble*

BTW, are you still posting in your thread about the rebuild !?!??

I disagree, I would take that m3 over any of those cars listed. Modena is a douche mobile, corvettes are for hicks and dont get me started on mercedes and their pig like handling.

modenas are for blonde chicks
corvettes are for real men
benz are for powerful cars that lindsay lohan's can't drive

Thanks, but I'd rather own some of BMW's history instead....but it's always a matter of personal preference at the end of the day.

the original post's vehicle is a vehicle you can not drive if you did own it.
funny it looks like it is fenced off in his own house .

but a chevy vette ZR-1 can spew hot rubber all over the neighbourhood

by the way the 2009 chevy vette holds the fastest time at the nurburgin.

actually no, the GTR V-Spec put in a lap 1 second quicker

Lotsa controversy on those times at the Nurb............. but apparently the GTR making another run at it

maroli

I can't see the Zr1 beating the V spec for some reason. A regular GTR is a second quicker around a 1 minute tight track than a GT3. An open track, minus 300 pounds and making a good chunk of power more...scary

Hey, yeah when I first bought the car I wanted it as a neat project. I wasn't aware that they were such a low production vehicle. Something like around 300 sent to Canada and 5000 to the US with lots being raced/crashed over the years. When I first bought it I was thinking I could maybe swap in another motor but after finding out about the low prodution numbers and how removing the S14 from the car hurts resale value and really changes the car I knew it had to stay.

I can only imagine if you dropped off the motor to have it rebuilt buy a trusted engine shop It would cost atleast 5-7K paying list on the parts plus the machine work/labour which is nuts for a 4 cyl. My motor will be in new condition for 3K so I'm doing alright. Budget wise the 15K rule doesn't apply so far, I'm hoping to be around the 12-13K range. That's with factoring a new leather interior cover kit, reconditioning the wheels and making the body look mint and the engine rebuild. I don't plan on selling it anytime soon as it's definetly not depreciating anymore.

The parts for my regular E30 were actually really cheap compared to most cars.

I'm going to update that thread with all the parts I have received. I just got my package from Turnermotorsport, I am waiting on a few more things. Best deal was to split up the motor rebuild between Pelican, Bavauto and Turner. The clutch kit, headgasket kit and bearings I found elsewhere.

I could have skimped on a couple things and brought the rebuild down to around 2K but I didn't want to chance it, I got all new timing rails, upgraded E36 chain tensioner, intake manifold gasket upgrade kit, exhaust stud kit and oil pan baffle for example.

What's left on yours to make it 100%?
