So they've finally done it... made the kidneys big enough to make it look completely devoid of identity. Congratulations BMW, on your new Kia.

its defenetly nicer then E60... but they could've done more i think. At least people wont call it ugly anymore.

^^ They've done better, I'll give them that. But I doubt it'll win any beauty awards either.

I can't believe the same company that can create such magnificent driving machines have such a tard in their design department*shiner*.

I think If they weren't respected for the fact that they can create great cars they would probably be below Kia right now:D

3.0 D? European model or are they bringing the Diesel over to NA??

diesel will be here soon.
expect fall for the 335d and x5d. early next year is the 5 series diesel and i think the x3 and 1 series. not sure about the x6, 6, or 7.

exterior of the new 7....ugly. grill needs to be redesigned, headlights need to be moved and designed different to match the grill size and location. lower grill needs to look like it's not braces but an actual design that flows with the body (not ugly). back does look like a lexus but isn't as bad as the front.

interior does looks very nice. i'm assuming that the long wheel base version since all the room but it does look comfortable and luxurious.

honestly, it looks like they ran out of ideas. It looks more or less the same as the E60. I don't like it, but I don't hate it. So that's not necessarily a bad thing.

It's normal. We live in a very fake world where BMW sold its ass to those that buy cars for the status. Now they have to make a car to look good for those that buy it for status, and for those that appreciate what it is. That can not be done. Why they can not have some sick sharp lines and why it all has to be curvey?

If bmw only made cars for the enthusiasts, we'd all still be driving E30 M3's and BMW would be out of business.

I like it, the days of BMW (and other manufacturers) building automobiles like the e34 M5, Mid 90's Audi RS4's, Benz W124, 95-2K Volvo's are gone. Now all these new cars are oval shapes, etc on wheels. We just gotta get used to it.

They lack the allura of the older cars. IMO/

The new Audis and Mercs look better than any old Audis, Mercs or BMWs. Make no mistake, it's not a trend - it's only the Bavarians ****in up. You can tell they are slowly trying to dig out of the hole. Once you go in a direction as a company that size, you can't just flip-flop overnight. Even without Bangle, they are stuck with the Bangle look - they'll just keep changing it little by little each year until it looks like a normal car again.

Active rear wheel steering, just as on the BMW 850 CSi?

"Also new, and a world premiere: Integral
Active Steering, which adds speed-sensitive rear-wheel steering to BMW’s
proven front Active Steering system. This is included in U.S. models’ Sport
Package."

"At the core of this experience are chassis engineering that sets new international
standards and all-new powertrain technology. BMW, which introduced its Active
Steering concept in 2004, now brings it to the 7 Series in a new, unique form:
Integral Active Steering, encompassing not only the original variable-ratio front
steering, but also, new rear-wheel steering. Acting as an overall system, the two
capabilities deliver a new combination of handling ease, maneuverability and
unrivaled stability in dynamic driving conditions: Integral Active Steering is
included in the optional Sport Package."

No way. Before I got my E90, everything I read and everyone I asked told me not to get active steering- but it was being sold as a safety feature and my parents wanted it, so I got it knowing it was the wrong decision. It was so unpopular the dealer didn't even have an AS equipped tester.

On delivery day, driving for the first time, when I turned the wheel to exit the dealer- the car responded- and I was immediately converted. The response was so fast and direct it was amazing. It makes the car feel so much nimbler. AS is the most important option to get after the sport package on the E90.

I've autocrossed the car too and I can say that AS equipped cars should be bumped up one class for having an unfair advantage.

i love it! i like everything about it, kidneys being an exception. i like the tail lights too.

besides, if i was shopping for a 7 series/ s class/ audi a8/ etc type car, i wouldnt care as much about the looks as i would care about the features it has.

it looks good to me now. i remeber how much i thought the e65 was ugly when it first came out, but it has grown on me. besides pictures suck balls. i think this car will def have a presence on the road when it is seen in real life.

I'm liking the new design, and if anyone read the full review than the technology on this thing is ground breaking.

ok so before they didnt have Idrive and everything was done with buttons... Then they introduced Idrive + not so many buttons to control things in order to simplify everything. But now.... It has and I DRIVE and Zillion buttons on top of that haha :) I find it interesting. I bet pretty much everything can be done by voice too tho.

I like it overall... The rear lights are somewhat wierd... but have to see it in person... overall I think its a nice step.

p.s did you guys noticed that BMW also rotated control panel toward the driver as it was in earlier cars! I like that.

that's cuz iDrive = fail.

From some angles I like the front. But I don't like those rear tails, I guess I'll get used to it.

I Like the rear of the car very much. I just don't like the fact that it reminds me of a Lexus*sad*

That's because the rear of the Lexus was very successful design.

It's a good base to start from.

I also have a feeling the front will have a lot of presence on the road.

when can we expect prices for the e65 go down a little bit?

They already are, aren't they??? The 745's are selling between 39 - 48 G's. Some used car lots have them on sale for 23 -30 G's

I think that's cheap compared to where their base price was.

x2, you can get 02' for like 20k but I wouldnt touch those, get a late 03 + if you really want a E65/66.

Thank god I still have warranty til' 09 , either I'm going to extend mine or sell the car. Too much electronics that may fack up for me to worry about.

Its seems like the new iDrive allows total control of every aspect of the car, damn it I want one.

They are thats the problem, thats like ive said before, I would never drive a 7 without warranty. Theres too much gadgets in the thing that will break down and service at the Stealership aint cheap. With the raise in gas prices these big sedans aint selling good, E65/E66's probably lose about $800-1000 a month in resale.

Guy, Lexus stole the whole body shape from BMW and the S500 stole the iDrive and calls it the COMMAND center.

BMW always comes up with new stuff the sometimes isnt liked right away by the world but everyone does falls inline eventually aka 2002 E65/66 design.

But the only part in the rear that looks like the Lexus is the exhaust coming from the bumper.

+1. the headlights aren't bad. the grills just seem weird to me. it's like it's either too big, or the wrong angle or something. some pictures it looks good though.

i think over all the car looks good, and people will change their minds about the car once seen in person. same kind of comments was made about the current production 5er and 7er.

personally i think the car from the side profile looks similar to Maserati Quattroporte.
love the taillights different lighting functions as seen on the video...
the kidnie grill might be too bid but i assume it was designed that way for cooling then style.
