Just found this....

So does this mean we can bring 95 M's back now? What about Evo's and GTO's?

I wrote them letters, sent em off to all the big shots in gov. I even got responses, especially from the minsitry of transportation in Ottawa. I guess enough of us did it! SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER? NOW LETS GET RID OF THIS STUNING 50 KM or car taken away law.

From what I've heard, unless the Manufacturers do something like send in letters the cars currently on inadmissible on the RIV won't change... ghey!

:D tell me about it.

Well, good news I guess. We'll have to see if this changes old cars or not, only time will tell at this point. I doubt it though.

To make things somewhat easier for people still confused about all of this...

This list: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/VAFUS.pdf

contains every vehicle that IS and ISN'T allowed into Canada from the USA. Bumper law change or not. If the vehicle is inadmissible on that list, you're not getting it in here legally.

Um, I dont get it.. there is no explanation on that site as to why the inadmissable vehicles are allowed.. I doubt its because of the crash testing and/or bumper laws...

Thats what people want to know.....

It doesn't matter WHY. If you want to find out exactly why a certain model isn't allowed, start to do some research and/or pick up the phone.

What does matter is that if the RIV list doesn't allow that specific car in you're not getting it in here legally.

Make note that the RIV list has NOT been updated as of yet in accordance to the new bumper laws. As far as I've heard/read they will be updating it. Everyone just needs to be patient.

2003 TO 2009 Lancer
Evolution. The vehicle
does not comply to
CMVSS 215 (bumpers)
and the manufacturer
informed Transport
Canada that the Canadian
modifications parts are not
available.

You guys must be looking at a cached copy because it is no longer in the inadmissible field... unless I'm reading this wrong.

Oh man, this is awesome. Just about all the cars are allowed now. R32 Golf's, EVO's, this is gonna be fun.

Do i have the right list, or are 95 M3's still not allowed?

You think this means that some of the prices on these imports will begin to go up?
