Lambda Control 1???

My check engine light came on today on my 1988 325is. I did the stomp test and got the fault code which i looked up and found it was lambda control 1? What is this???

I doubt there is two... but my guess would be the front one since the code is Lambda 1 (unless the first one is Lambda 0).
