How is your driving record?

Insurance will most likely be high for an M3.

You're young, inexperienced (so they presume), it's a 2DR, an M3, male?, blah blah blah...

I'm waiting till I hit 25 before I purchase my M3, 'cause then I'll probably just make my non-M my daily driver. I'm 23 ATM, turning 24 this year.

^ Thats what I did... wait until get 25.
Not much of a difference... SURPRISINGLY
Have clean record... and history!
Run some quotes online to find out!

online quotes are useless. You should call around to insurance companies to get a real idea on what you'd be paying.

Why not just visit kanetix & see for yourself?

Obviously you will pay more if you're under 25, better to put it in your parents name til then if that's an option

How is it useless? The csr you're calling goes through essentially the same process as you do online, so cut out the middleman. There should be no differences between online & in person quoting

Maybe they've revised their system, but i had varying prices when I used Kanetix.

for example, $5200 through RBC on kanetix. But when I called them, $6800.

clean driving record.
how does putting it in my parents name work? just because its in their name its cheaper or do they need to be insured on it and i would just be occasional?

330Hi

Kanetix is usually pretty good, but they are a brokerage so there may be bias towards certain companies they deal with. But if you go to insurancehotline you should get 100% accurate quotes, or you can just go to each insurance companies web site to check their pricing yourself and there s/b no difference than what a broker quotes you (providing the info you give online is the same as what you tell the broker)

The company you get, the agent on the line, luck of the draw, all that I guess. I mean Ive seen extremly high quotes, then I see King Luis above and I who both seem to have gotten very good rates on M3s at a young age.
FWIW Bel Air Direct is responsible for me being able to own an insured M3.

You got a speeding ticket at 15?

Whose name is on the car ownership, you or your fathers?

WTH... I pay like $260 a month for a '95 325is at 23. People paying $250 or less for an E46 M3? Something is seriously wrong, lol. I have one minor speeding ticket but still! Even people paying that for an M3 have a speeding ticket. =\

I'm with Belair ATM. What garbage!

Are any of you guys actually comparing M3 insurance to similar non-M cars? I did this, and it's the reason I ended up with the M3 instead of the 318Ti I wanted. All E36s were within like $200/yr of each other. In fact, the M3 only costs $100/yr more to insure than the E30 325iS did.

In my experience, the "M3 insurance is crazy" notion is nothing more than a myth. Maybe it's just my luck.
