View Full Version : Ouch, hail damage!

06-16-2008, 06:28 PM
I was stupid and drove right through the eye of the storm. Hail the size of those big marbles started coming down. Felt like baseballs just slamming into my car.. the damage is pretty bad for an 08 that was flawless, its got a bunch of dimples all over the car.. hard to see but still not happy. I wish i took footage of it, but i was just getting so pissed that it nailed my car and i couldn't do shit :(

Anyone know a place that car repair the hood and roofs of these little dents? plz pm me or post here. thanks!

heres some pictures.
btw this was in Richmond Hill

thank you Mr. Seville. Just called them up, seems like its possible! might cost a few bucks more cause its a SUV, and over 18 dents easily.

yeah but just watch out for cracks in the clearcoat after. w/e wetsanding is cheaper then repair and repainting the entire thing. what kind of SUV?

You got lucky... I need to make an insurance claim for mine :(

Golf Ball sized hail at my home and it cracked one tailight, chipped the other, cracked one mirror, shatter the other, my whole car looks like it was parked on a driving range.

Guess I can't sell it now

when they pull out/repair small dents, sometimes the clear coat cracks.

The Hail today was one of the most spectacular things I had ever seen. The Cayenne was parked outside and I had to run through the insane storm while pellets pelted me in the face and get the car in the garage. Luckily there was no damage that I can see.

Here are some pics of the aftermath in King.

is there any ways to forecast hail?

06-17-2008, 01:06 AM
Wow, my bro had my car in the west end and said the storm just passed him by and no hail came down (thank god!). As soon as I heard hail, i popped my dads e39 in the garage but again no hail hit here either. Sucks that some of you have some repairs to do, nobody saw this hail coming.

Does insurance cover damage from hail?

06-17-2008, 12:52 PM
only if you have comprehensive

06-17-2008, 02:08 PM
does the insurance rate go up?

06-17-2008, 02:15 PM
^^ usually not, no.

The clear coat cracking is something you should be more worried about if the car has ever been repainted. Usually it's okay on original paint (like your is, being an '08) so I wouldn't worry about the clear coat. Also dents on seams or funny corners can crack, not so much on flat panels (like roofs or hoods). Well, that and the dent repair guy not being an asshat. Some of these guys are better than others.

^ No.

Comprehensive is acts of God that could not be avoided. If you have too many of them, then probably yes. It's like a windshield replacement.
