Hey guys. My brother sold me an e36 yesterday, and I was teaching my brilliant girlfriend to drive stick, she got off slow at a green light and got rear ended, and the guy drove off. It sucks but anyway....here's the dent, how much do you guys think to get this fixed? I was thinking Autopia... I'll pm him with these pics too

There's a dent near the trunklid, and the rear bumper is lose on both sides near the wheel, you can see the gap. Also got some rust in the pic, if anyone knows roughly how much to get that rewelded, pls let me know. Thanks :)

well, she was driving, he hit her, she flew forward past the intersection, he pulled a quick right and was gone. Initially I thought she just sent the car flying forward cause she just dropped the clutch (I was teaching her to drive stick)

you let a female drive stick for the first time on public roads? Why not in a parking lot?

I def would've, but it was her driving, and she can't pull away from a stop properly, I'd have been t-boned if she tried a u-ey. If not, she'd run over someone or something....

x2

tell your friend to pay for it since you cant find the person who hit her.

plus she was learning to drive stick on your ride.

you lose regardless

I think you should have cut her off after 30min in the parking lot if she couldn't start without stalling. I mean come on man.

That's a shame. Had you caught the guy, you could have gotten 2k out of him easy...got the whole rear end fixed for rust and repainted... Check for damage to the spare wheel compartment in the trunk.

Ask me how i know.

1K is about right.

You need
-new trunk lid (buy used)
-new metal peice that goes between bumper and trunk lid (has to be welded in)
-2 new bumper shocks
-paint
-labour removing rear bumper (not exactly rocket science, you could do it yourself)

The rust repair on the fender will be more.

from what i can see.
I hope your girl made it up to you bro

It all depends where you go. Could be quoted $500 at maco or $4000 at one of BMW's approved shops.

actually, the trunklid is perfect, there's a little paint coming off around the edge, but otherwise no dents :)

Well, if the trunk lid isn't bent, the bumper is fine, etc, and you wanna be cheap, have a shop use a reverse hammer to pull out the ding in the peice under the trunk lid, bondo + paint and you're done. That way you could probably get it done for 250$ or so.
