Hey guys,

I have a 98 E36. I've been listening to the OEM deck for the last year and I think it's time for an upgrade. I'd like to get a deck that plays MP3s so that I can burn my own CDs but at the same time, I'd like it to fit the bimmer feel... (amber/red lights).

My price range is somewhere up to $200-250 for the deck alone + whatever harness/instal i need. I never listen to music full blast and I won't be dropping additional $2000 in amp, sub, speaker upgrade. I just need something basic that'll get the job done and look good.

Can anyone suggest any decks that would go with the car?

Thanks a lot,
Mike

I know the sony decks (x-plod) come with a blue light, same with Alpine. Best bet is to go to futureshop and see what you like and then wait for it to come on sale or check out sites such as www.crutchfield.com. any deck will fit your car, you might need a install kit to take up the space around the aftermarket deck

I ended up going with Alpine's new deck. It's back ordered but I should have it in a month or so. It's red/orange/amber... I'll get a picture when its installed.

Here's the deck, it's Alpine CDA 9887. It has an amber illumination but I couldn't find a good picture with the amber set up.

Alpine makes great decks. Overall sound should be improved, with that deck
