its a matter of optimizing the profits. By decreasing the pricing they can increase the number of sales but has to be to an optimal point where the net profit is maximized. Simple C&O.

The economy is slowing down. People are cutting back on major purchases.

I believe Benz is up, largely due to the new C. People realized that the new BMW's are ugly :) Ok ok, so just the 5 series. :P

Bangle Bmw's will never look good. And the fact that one cannot check oil level or use normal tires. Too many pinstriped suit people who would know how to change a tire or check oil are buying these days

New car sales were up industry wide by 14% earlier this year (Feb I think it was). So if they are dropping, then they obviously don't have their pricing in line.

Exactly! Personally, I think its a combination of pricing and the lame styling of the new 3 series.

Bangle did design the E46, which a lot of people prefer over the e90/e92 cars.
The e90/e92 looks okay from the outside. It's the inside that kills it for me. It's so bad, as are other BMW models, I'm starting to look at other brands. You spend more time looking at the interior, than the outside; you want the interior to work for you.

It's good their sales numbers are dropping. Very good actually Maybe now, BMW will start listening to their customers instead of being so stubborn. We'll probably get a better product because of this.

Look at VW. Their stubbornness has really affected them. They were famous for telling their customers, this is what you need, instead of listening to what the customers want. They need to focus on what they did well before, instead of trying to build a $100,000 car which competes with their own over priced VW known as Audi.

Here is a great article on VW.

Good article. The Phaeton and Toureg were a complete waste of time. Why are they competing with Audi?

not only pricing, but looks as well....a lot of high-end car buyers buy for looks and luxury, and not all of them put performance first.

Well those ppl are posers. If they actually wanted a drivers car, and not just some badge, then they would get a BMW. There only concerned with image.

Well there are are bunch of new cars coming out from BMW this year so maybe people are holding off. The new 1 series coupe and cabrio will make a lot of sales not to mention the e90, e92, e93 M3.

I was planning on purchasing a 135i this summer, but after I noticed that BMW has not made any effort in resolving the price difference between Canadian and US pricing, they can kiss my :moon:

And I encourage everyone to boycott BMW until they make an effort to compensate us Canadians for the unjustified price difference.

The most effective way we can pressure BMW to harmonize the prices is to hit them in their pocketbook.

I visited both BMW and Mercedes dealerships last Saturday in Markham, and surprisingly BMW was far busier, but their pricing is totally wacked, they had a 135i there, not a convertible, for $47k?? I have never agreed with the pricing of this car.

I'd rather take my $36K, and look at the new C class, (230 no charge Sport version) or the 2008 Cadillac CTS...Don't laugh I rented one of these for two days in San Francisco this week, and was blown away.

Pic's aren't mine, as my version was charcol gray, and had the black interior with carbon fibre trim(fake but nicer than wood)...but you get the idea.

I think we'll head south for our next BMW. BMW Canada can kiss my :moon: cause of how shit they treat Canadians ............. and don't even hide the fact. Rite in our faces and we still eat all that BMW shit up with a spoon. No thanks.

I agree with this. An ugly shape may seem cool when it first comes out but after a couple years its stale.. not good for business.

Mercs entire line up is still good looking.
