View Full Version : Detailing Seminar

HoldenC

Right now, this is a feeler but several members of Max have mentioned they would be interested in a detailing seminar. Originally, I suggested an open garage session lead by yours truly and tackling the issue of paint correction with the Porter Cable polisher.

I believe it will be in the best interest of Max members to learn how to perform the two-bucket wash technique, however. This is the single greatest skill of any professional or amateur detailer and is an excellent way to introduce Max to swirl-free washing techniques.

I could also create some wash packages, including all the necessary equipment and microfibre towels as well for purchase.

How many people would be interested in signing up?

If it's free I'm in, if it's not I'm maybe in. I'd probably pick up a proper microfiber towel from you though if you have some new ones laying around.

If attendance is low, I may have to charge. If it's 10 or more, I don't think I would have any issue making it a free event.

Perhaps a small charge to cover drinks and food?

OT: Such a beautiful day today :) (spring's on the way)

where would you host this ?

That's a good question. I could potential host this at my home in Stouffville. There's more than enough room there. I think ten cars could easily fit in the paved driveway.

I would like to do it sometime in April if the weather will hold and spring will begin. Rain will also be a factor in choosing the date.

HoldenC

Byob?

I think I would prefer that it be a booze-free event. If it were a small event, sure, but anything over five people is a no-go when it comes to liquor.

I would enjoy providing food and drinks and make it an afternoon event. Perhaps I'll even hold a BBQ.

bmwm5lover

I would be interested aswell.
Unfortuantely my work schedule changes like the weather, so one day I can make ti, and the next that day I can't.
If it is on a day that I can come, I'll be glad to pitch ina few bucks for food/w/e.
PS. Stouffville is near me too!

I think we need a new venue for this event. Preferably a location in York Region, namely Markham. Potential dates include Sat April 12, and Sat April 19.

Locations could include a home and must have a supply of running water and enough space for 10-15 participants. Low/no cost is ideal.

is it just the exterior? how about the interior such as proper ways of upkeeping the pleather and carpets?

For proper nomenclature, BMW does not use "pleather". BMW uses cloth, cloth and leather, leather, and leatherette for interior upholstery.

For the purposes of this seminar, I would like to focus on the two-bucket washing method. The next seminar will be about paint correction using the Porter Cable Polisher.

If anyone has a suggestion for a location in the Markham area, please send me an email. It must have space for at least 10 vehicles and have access to running water. Email me at Tyler@apollodetailing.com

Due to a change, we will be covering a less conventional form of maintenance - rinseless washing. Popular during winters, rinseless washes allow you to wash on your terms with just two buckets of water. Wash inside your garage, at a Concours event etc. without the hassle of a hose and drainage.
