This is just a feeler to see if anyone wants to replace their old rubber style keys.

I just bought a bunch of Diamond shape (00+ style) remote key casings. I will be able to cut them for your car if you supply one of your keys and swap the chip and used remote. They are aftermarket but pretty good quality, I have some with the old style (e39) and new style blade (e46, early e60).

I can't program new chips yet, let me know if you might be interested. If there is enough interest, I will invest in the expensive equipment to program BMW keys (even if you have all 10 used up from BMW, i'd be able to over-write old ones you no longer have). You can take the chip out of your old remote or even your valet key.

Located in just outside of Toronto, Canada. Was thinking $35 each (blank) or $50 each (cut to your existing key). DOES NOT INCLUDE REMOTE. Prices are currently obo and do not include shipping. PM me for details or pics if interested.

Yes they would. I have other non-remote aftermarket keys that would work on e36s too - they look sorta silly but have the bmw logo on them. I can post a pic tomorrow if interested.

Here are the non-remote ones. $25 uncut, $35 cut. No transponders included but there is a spot for them. As with the remotes, price negotiable for more than 1 and exclude actual shipping (if can't meet up in Oakville).

If/when you will be able to program the chips, please let me know. I'll be interested at that point.

I've always wanted to have the E46 style key fob with the integrated remote in the key for my E36. Can you do this?

If I pull the chip from your old key, the key would work but the remotes are different frequencies, you would not be able to use the remote function.

These are replacement shells, meaning that there is a new keyblade fused to a plastic case. You have to add the remote (from a used key) and take your chip from another old key.

As I stated before, I am considering buying the equipment to program them but it is expensive, I would have to make sure I have a lot of interest and that it's worthwhile for me.

To get an idea, ballpark, how much is anyone willing to pay to have keys programmed? I can replace old keys in the 10 allowed for the car, so if you're maxed out from BMW, i can still give you up to 10 keys (total). Also, I can fill old places in the car's memory so that you can still get brand new keys from the dealer that work.

I have specalized equipment to cut these keys. This was actually just a feeler as my machine just got delivered to my friend across the border. Will start taking orders for cut keys once I re-confirm the operation and cut a few working samples (so that I don't waste anyone's time in case I need to fix the equipment).

Can any of those be cut and work for e30s?

My main key sucks and a lot of plastic broke off.

To answer a few questions:

Yes, I can cut them for an e46 but same deal, need to swap the chip and get a used remote.

I can cut them to work for an e36 with the chip (if equipped) but no remote functionality.

I can't cut these for an e30 - i'd suggest getting one cut from the dealer, get the non lighted one, you can then buy a lighted blank for like $20 online. I can cut those, just like any locksmith that will cut a steel key (they're like $70 for the lighted one from canadian bmw dealers - huge ripoff).

Hey bro, i'm interested in getting a key made for my e36 (Using the diamond style key), only problem is that the key I have is the only one i have. Can you make a duplicate on the spot or do i need to leave the key with you?

I can cut unlimited spare keys for your car and they will all start it. You have no transponder chip so as long as it is cut, it will work.

If you can come out to oakville, I can cut a spare or two for you. (Will advise once I get my machine from my buddy's place).

If you come out to me, I can copy it on the spot. Would be good to have the car there to make sure 100% that it works and that you're happy. What year is your car? Just want to make sure it doesn't have a chip because if it does, it won't start the car without pulling the chip from the other key. (Don't have a chip programmer yet).

Even better news for you - you have a 94 so no ews, i can cut the key and it will work. I'm not sure how easy it woudl be to modify a remote to fit in the case but if you can do it, i'm sure a lot of ppl would be interested in them (the stock diamond key remote won't work on an e36).

Can also do the non remote key no problem.

Machine is in, tested and working.

I have: Diamond casings, both blade styles, a few non-remote aftermarket bmw keys (these two have pics on the first page), VW lighted, non-lighted and switchblade tops.

Here are some pics:

Hard to see but only the right side has been cut on this one

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t270/damicomp/hs%20keys/100_0486.jpg

I am currently in Hamilton for another month then to Oakville. Can make arrangements to cut keys for anyone that comes out here or can ship them if payment is made through Paypal (and a key to copy from is sent to me). It must be registered both ways with signature and tracking number. The only way I will do it so that no keys go 'missing' on either end and there are no accusing of anything. I also will allow/encourage if possible to have me mail the keys to a different address (that's not your home) for your own safety and to avoid the chance of a car going missing (the owner's choice, just need to have someone who can sign for them).

PM me requests please.

all pm's replied. I had someone suggest that you remove the chips BEFORE sending me your existing keys - a great idea. I don't need them and helps for security. Just make sure you remember which way it goes in (take a picture or something) and don't lose it!

Please note: these are the key shells ONLY. I can help show you how to swap a remote into one of these but you need to source a used remote separately. Message me if you have any questions about bmw keys in general.

I already have a blank, how much to cut it?

328i Cab
04-01-2008, 05:07 PM
Replied, I will charge $20 to cut a key that you supply as long as it isn't hard steel (ask me before and I can verify). I can't be held liable if it doesn't work - I can only guarantee my blanks to work. Message me for more details.

Had a problem today cutting a worn key for an e46 - the side was too worn and kept popping out of the cutter. If you have a newer style (e46, x3, x5 etc) I need to use a newer key to copy from - otherwise it may be sticky or not work at all.

Problem fixed - still getting used to the machine *th-up* around this weekend if anyone wants them cut on the spot - can be sure they work before you leave.

They will (am currently using one on a 97 540i/6) but you need to take a transponder chip out of one of the other working keys, and get a used diamond remote from ebay. I pulled the chip out of my valet key and had a used e46 key to sacrifice for the remote. The transponder chip communicates with the EWS module in the car to allow it to start.

PM me for more details.

Have OEM BMW blanks for non-chipped cars (up to 12/94). Have both lighted shells (no light cartridges yet) and non lighted blanks. $50 each cut, at least $20 off dealer price (and no tax). Cutting on the spot!

hey 328icab, are you planning to get a chip programmer so that you can help us to program some brand new transponder chips?

Well, how about this...who would be interested? If I figure that I can almost break even on getting a programming machine, it would be worth my while, if I'm going to shell out a few grand and have 5 ppl interested, it's not all that worth it.

Who would be in? I would probably charge $100 to scan the module and program as many chips as you want and $25 to program any more afterwards (I can store the data if you wanted). The problem is that you have to remove the EWS module from the car and scan it seperately and then write the keys, sort of a PITA.

Anyways, please let me know who is interested, post the year/model of the car too (just to make sure the system I would choose would cover most of the cars).

Sidewinder keys still available, still have some oem non-ews blanks as well as aftermarket.
