One thing I don't understand, why do the new BMWs have red rear signals?? Did they change to red in Europe too?

yup

actually, no. Euros have Amber and red. The top part is amber.

We will never have the same tails. For e46s, they had clears, we had ambers and reds. Now its the other way around.

Yeah, it's not like he posted a picture or anything.

yah, too bad he said the tails were the same as euro.. which was not true.

the question was "Did they change to red in Europe too?" he answered yes, which was not true. You probably wouldnt know it was amber if I didn't tell you.

read before you post, thanks for coming out. *wave*

What the hell are you talking about? The guy said "yes, the lights are all red in Europe" , which is wrong! I am just correcting him. What does that have to do with the picture? Some people couldn't tell the difference between AMBER signals and RED in the picture anyways.

jer, i dont see what you're saying. that e90 clearly has euro plates on it, and the signals look red to me bro.

bimmerjoe, if that was my M3 that you were doing a burnout in, and i found out, you'd be out of a job right away, i wouldn't accept delivery of the car.

i know all cars get beaten on at dealers before delivery, but that doesn't mean i'd let it go if i saw someone doing it.

Yah exactly, you can't even tell from the picture right?

What I am saying is the Euro e90s have the Amber/red tails.. You can't really tell from the picture.

No they don't. I'll shut up if you post a picture and prove me wrong.

Edit: and don't tell me it's an amber bulb, because that's different.

shimajer
03-08-2008, 11:28 AM
k you can shut up now.

last picture is Euro on left, US on right.

If it was as easy as just a bulb, why would they sell "euro taillights"

shimajer

next time, make sure before you open your mouth. you always seem to think you're right. i wouldn't tell people about amber/ red if i wasn't sure.

You two are gona beat each other up soon over whether the tails are red or amber. Both taillights look like shit anyways, i'd like them clear.

Nice, thanks for clearing that up!

And bimmerjoe, that's not cool man, don't the cars have to go through break-in first?

these high end cars dont really need to be broken in there not like gm's............ the mechanics when they road test the cars after the PDI (pre delivery inspection) they have to punch them to the speed limit of course to make sure that every thing is a go...... but you guys are right!!

M3ti Compact
03-08-2008, 02:41 PM
talk about splitting hairs

red lens = red tails

just like clear lens will be known as clears, and not by the colour they light up

this is what I consider amber tails

shimajer
03-08-2008, 02:50 PM
Man, some of you just won't admit you are wrong.

The cover is amber, it doesn't just LIGHT up amber, it's amber to begin with. The E36s ambers have the black outline, that's why it's easier to show. As you can see from the euro taillights, there's a red outline around it, but the amber part is actually amber. That is why I've attached a picture of the bulbs they used, do you see any amber light bulbs? So do they magically blink amber with those clear light bulbs?

It doesnt' take a genius to tell the difference between US and EURO tails after I've posted the pictures. Some of you are hard to pleased and think they are always right no matter what. I thought you would be the first to know considering owning a e90. In case you don't know, your e90 has the front ambers too, not because you have amber bulbs lolll

You obviously don't know what you're taking about, the factory break in procedure is to keep the engine under 5500 rpm for the first 2000 km.

page 114 http://resource.bmwusa.com/pdf_7e39415e-a4be-4596-a766-917db452ff03.arox

"Avoid full-throttle operation..."

Failing to do so can void your warranty on the engine as the ECU loggs RPMs.

Obviously you don't need to go anywhere near the 5500 rpm mark if you're just going up to the speed limit, I'm sure that you can get up to 100km/h in 6th and stay under 2000rpm.

I know that bmw owns mini but i swear they chose the worst designer they had to work on the back of that car it is just repulsive. I would rather spend half the money on an E30 M3.
