short story, my alternator just died, so i took the chance to upgrade to a bosch 140amp. turns out you need a different alternator pulley otherwise the belt wont line up. sooo start calling around (5pm east coast US). first step,
call bavarian auto as they are around the corner form me, no go, special order item. next, stealer, can have it by friday for $42.50.:mad:

check pelicanparts which are about 3000 miles away, they have it from bosch for $12.50. website says, ships tomorrow, so i call them, he said no problem and i give him my name, he finds my credit card and gets it done overnight, price: $42.50. (at this point i wondered if i might be ordering too much stuff from them)

i mean i am used to the stealer customary 30-50% over but 4 times the price is a bit rich. well, same price and i get it a day earlier.

this is the first time i have been this long without my car and i am getting really really angry with my wifes beetle.

Bah, trying to find a window regulator in Canada was the same thing. $180 from the dealer, $160 from online retailers in Canada.
Picked it up from Tischer BMW online for like $60 bucks. *rockout*

You can always setup a US address in Buffalo and have your purchases shipped there. I have purchased parts at Tisher and will be heading down this weekend to pick them up.

Seriously, tell me about it. I've gotten parts that are $500 at the dealership for $200 online. For an expensive part to be less than half the cost is quite a bit of money.

Yeah everything at Canadian dealers is a rip off.

A Sport Airbag is 1200 bucks, at Tischer BMW its 500 and usually goes on sale for 400 a couple times a year.

A SMG Steering Column Swich is 194 plus tax at BMW toronto. 90 Bucks at Tischer BMW.

not sure for the pulley, but for parts like retainers/keepers/etc pelican didn't have that good of prices. Bimmerworld and rmeuropean were the best.
