jeez!

Coupe
Canada - $71,300
USA - $57,275

M3 Sedan
Canada - $69,900
USA - $54,575

do they think we're stupid?

(caveat, does the Canadian model come with more equipment?)

i think our base model have more extras than theirs. but either way, our prices will never be the same, it just can't happen. it's all demand and supply.

It's also a matter of volume.

More m3's will sell in the US than in Canada.

I guess they have to pay for all the Canadian execs and the new corporate office. Too bad for us.

Keep in mind that canada has 6.1% duties on German automobiles so that is factored into the price as well.

Which would result in the coupe being: $67,200.75.
With the US model being $57,275.00 the difference is actually just shy of 10k.

If I'm not mistaken, BMW pays 6.1% to import cars into the Canada and the USA.

When we import into Canada, 6.1% is paid again. Governments love cars. What else can they tax multiple times?

This double taxation allows BMW Canada to keep the german-made cars at least 6.1% more expensive than the US. Nice.

JazzM

actually that's incorrect. 6.1% is the Canadian import duties. The US charges 2.5% duties on all foreign made vehicles.

Man, do we get hosed!

How much better equiped can our M3's be for an extra 14g's? Better have a complete suede interior standard!

We should be used to getting hosed.
Just look at how much income tax we pay.

Tom, thanks for the 2.5% clarification!

I wonder what will happen in 10 years when there barely any auto industry left in Canada? What will the 6.1% duty protect?

Nah, but we get the airbag stickers in English AND in French! ;)

BTW, the cabriolet (hard-top convertable) will be $81,900 CND MSRP.

JazzM

and to think dealers will sell these above MSRP to some people. Our lease is ending on the 530 in 3 months and we were looking into the 335 or the M3. But this is just gouging now.

Thats pretty good actually. I remember back around august 2007 a white 2006 BMW M3 cabrio with 4000Km's (alpine white on black/SMG) was selling for $94,000, they dropped the price now to $85,000.

does anyone have any good pics of the new m3 cabrio?

interesting, so e46 M3 values should drop dramatically then...

^^ they already have.

a friend of mine was telling me at the auctions in florida, you can find decent e46 M's (under 100K miles) for about 25-28K USD.

that means you can find bullshit ones for 20K, and reasonably clean ones for 30.

if that's not cheap for a car that still smokes 99% of the performance cars out there around a track, i dunno what is.

but like i said a while ago
YAY! YAY! YAY! M3 SEDAN YAY! YAY! YAY!

btw, the my330i.com showcar sold on ebay the other day for like 26K. twinscrew, bbk, 19' ch's, under 25K miles. 360hp;)
