I've got the vert stripped for it's M30 engine swap and while its apart I wanted to get it painted.

The car is presently white with navy interior... I'm on the fence about going with a deep blue (not purply), and maintaining the shadowline look. Will be putting BBS Style 5s (shown on E34 at bottom) on at the same time. I would really like diamond schwartz on black leather but...

Anyone have any thoughts on a suitable blue? The shades that have me most interested so far are:

- mauritius blue
- orient blue metallic
- macao blue (although I've heard it can have brownish hues)

Some pics below... photoshop anyone?

Various shades of blue, I like the orient the best out of this set. (not my picture)

just my opinion but i would just buy the bbs rims in the forsale section 4X100 perfect fit, leave the white paint and just remove that black moulding above your side skirt. Those are the only things i would change about your cabrio but other then thta it looks good.

Agreed.

Nothin better than a fresh stock re-paint, but thats just me. A fresh alpwiteII bay/exterior and some new 5-lug wheels would be hot.

SOK - can't find a 17" deep dish bbs weave in a 4x100 with a decent offset. There are 16" bbs and copies (like konig remember) but even then not a great selection. I've got the set of style 5's sitting in my shop, so if I have to buy new rims I might as well keep what I have and do the 5 lug swap. The molding will be sprayed white - can't be entirely removed due to side skirt fitment issues.

Another BM - Laguna Seca is too bright for me... want to keep it a little understated but noticeable.

E30 Kid - I'm on the fence about the paint, the white has grown on me. Agreed on the wheels.

I've always been drawn to blue - orient blue would be my choice.

I repainted my car this past summer to Carbon Black. The colour is great and I love the contrast between it and my tan leather interior. Also at night it looks more black then blue, while during the day it clearly looks like a dark navy blue.

Clear wasn't great, but I am reclearing it in a few weeks *mw*

If you decide to repaint just make sure your exterior and interior have some sort of contrast......makes a vehicle like it has more life in it rather then looking like a sleeper *sleep* (i think thats the right term to use).

I like the carbon black. I hear you about contrast. My ideal car is black on black, but can't have that with a navy interior so was thinking of blue on blue.

Am I crazy? White on Blue vs Blue on Blue?

my old E30 was Lazurblau(Lazer blue) metallic, a later E30 model color. Check that color out too. It has to be taken care of regularly or it just looks dull.

Leave your car with the OEM paint. Don't touch it, it will loose it's value. Go to www.gtaindetail.com and he will make your paintjob look like new. Check his samples.

Personally I think the darker blue exterior will look very good with the navy interior.
