So I had a mighty fine struggle with my first attempt at replacing my O2 sensor last night. Fack. I almost pulled a muscle...pushed, pulled, yanked on the damn wrench, but the sensor was fused to the pipe. I'm going to put it up on ramps and see if I can take a hammer to the wrench from underneath. Second attempt in the werks.

get out a torch and heat the sucker up. thats the only thing that'll make it move sometimes.

^^ thats right. you could treat it with penetrating oil to ease things. but it won't budge with out heating it up.you dont want to damage the threads either.

When I replaced mine I had to destroy the old one to get at the base of the sensor to remove. I heated it up and used a good size wrench with a pipe extention for leverage.....as far as the thread goes there is a tap available that normally is used for sparkplug holes that is the same as the sensor thread. I think princess auto has them if I remember correctly from my catalogue. This worked for me. Also if you do have to retap the thread be patient and make sure you retap it straight.
Good-luck........Bill

does anyone use an 02 socket and a breaker bar or rachet? mine has always come out easy on 3 of my exhaust setups

I used the mini torch, and the closed end of a wrench, slipped the chord through and came off in a snap. I looked at picking up the tool you suggested (like 20 bucks) but gave it a go first...the heat did the trick.

Cheers,
